Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Software Engineer

Manassas, VA

Pay Estimated: $54.83-$63.69/Hour

Active Secret Clearance Required to Start

This role leads the design, development, and optimization of advanced DSP algorithms and embedded software for undersea sensor and sonar systems, supporting high-performance, real-time signal processing in challenging operational environments.

• Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms and software for undersea sensor applications
• Implement DSP solutions in embedded, real-time systems
• Collaborate with hardware, embedded software, and systems engineers to integrate DSP functionality
• Perform performance analysis, profiling, and optimization to ensure reliable operation in undersea environments
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for DSP algorithms, software, and system implementations
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, integration testing, and verification
• Troubleshoot and resolve DSP software and system-level issues
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
• Stay current on DSP techniques, tools, and undersea sensor technologies

• U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline
• Master’s degree may substitute for years of experience
• Clearance: Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required at time of hire
• Experience: 5+ years of DSP software development experience
• OR Master’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience
• Experience developing and optimizing DSP algorithms for sensor or signal processing systems

  Skills:
  
  Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithm design and implementation; C / C++ (embedded and performance-critical applications); MATLAB or similar tools for algorithm development and simulation;
  Embedded DSP platforms and architectures;
  Strong foundation in signal processing theory (filtering, detection, estimation, spectral analysis);
  Experience with undersea, acoustic, or sensor-based signal processing environments

• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development
• Experience supporting sonar systems (submarine and/or surface ship)
• Knowledge of underwater acoustics and sonar signal processing
• Experience applying machine learning / AI techniques to signal processing problems
• Experience with oceanographic data analysis or modeling
• Experience working in Agile development environments
