IMEG is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team. We are currently seeking a Licensed Maryland Surveyor in our Manassas, VA office
. You will be responsible for providing leadership in the daily operations of survey activities including construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys. The Senior Surveyor will perform production surveying duties, apply diversified knowledge of surveying principles and practices, and provide surveying assistance under leadership from a Senior Land Surveyor.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex survey duties associated with construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys.
  • Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports.
  • Complete boundary reductions, boundary determinations, and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software.
  • Maintain and verify the accuracy of project survey data and manage the company standards survey database; review survey production and final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control.
  • Proficiency with survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects.
  • Operate and assist with operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey equipment.
  • Supervise CAD Technicians in preparing plans and plats describing the surveys performed.
  • Develop professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and mentor/train junior staff members.
  • Operate a company vehicle and observe safety and security procedures.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents.
  • Ability to interact effectively with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies.
  • Proficient in on-site office operations, workflow processes, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Advanced understanding of survey operations and identifying potential problems.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey software, GPS, and MS Office.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership capabilities.
  • Proven people management and leadership capabilities; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, officials, contractors, and coworkers; professional representation of IMEG.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 8 years of experience minimum required; 12 years preferred in the building design consulting or construction industry.
  • Land Surveyor (LS) License required.
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
  • Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises.

Salary Range $85,000-$100,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
