Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Software Engineer Manassas, VA Pay Estimated: $54.83-$63.69/Hour Active Secret Clearance Required to Start This role leads the design, development, and optimization of advanced DSP algorithms and embedded software for undersea sensor and sonar systems, supporting high-performance, real-time signal processing in challenging operational environments. Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and optimize DSP algorithms and software for undersea sensor applications
* Implement DSP solutions in embedded, real-time systems
* Collaborate with hardware, embedded software, and systems engineers to integrate DSP functionality
* Perform performance analysis, profiling, and optimization to ensure reliable operation in undersea environments
* Develop and maintain technical documentation for DSP algorithms, software, and system implementations
* Participate in design reviews, code reviews, integration testing, and verification
* Troubleshoot and resolve DSP software and system-level issues
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
* Stay current on DSP techniques, tools, and undersea sensor technologies

Qualifications:

* U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law

* Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related STEM discipline
* Master's degree may substitute for years of experience
* Clearance:
* Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required at time of hire

* Experience:

* 5+ years of DSP software development experience
* OR Master's degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience
* Experience developing and optimizing DSP algorithms for sensor or signal processing systems
* Core Technical

Skills:

* Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithm design and implementation
* C / C++ (embedded and performance-critical applications)
* MATLAB or similar tools for algorithm development and simulation
* Embedded DSP platforms and architectures
* Strong foundation in signal processing theory (filtering, detection, estimation, spectral analysis)
* Experience with undersea, acoustic, or sensor-based signal processing environments

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development
* Experience supporting sonar systems (submarine and/or surface ship)
* Knowledge of underwater acoustics and sonar signal processing
* Experience applying machine learning / AI techniques to signal processing problems
* Experience with oceanographic data analysis or modeling
