Basic Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline, and 5 years of directly related experience; or a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience.
- Systems engineering experience with products that include custom designed hardware and/or custom written software, covering architecture definition, interface control documentation, trade‑off analysis, and HW/SW verification/validation in an aerospace/defense setting.
- Experience leading quantitative trade studies and technology selection efforts (e.g., multi‑criteria decision analysis, cost performance modeling, risk/benefit assessment) for custom hardware and/or software solutions in aerospace or defense programs.
- Professional experience with model system architecture using industry standard tools (Cameo).

Lockheed Martin Manassas is seeking a Systems Engineer/Architect to join our Integrated Submarine Imaging Systems Program Team. The Imaging System is one subsystem supporting multiple operational classes of the United States submarine force. The Imaging subsystem provides mission‑critical, all‑weather, visual, and electronic search data and digital imagery. As one of our Systems Engineers, you will work with a multi-disciplinary team employing a systems engineering approach to requirements, system architecture, and interface definitions, supporting solution implementation, and establishing Verification and Validation approaches for new and updated software/hardware baselines.
This role involves analyzing system requirements, inter‑system requirements, emerging technologies and tools, and new hardware products to guide software/hardware solutions.
- Support cross‑discipline product and project teams identifying, evaluating, and establishing technical solutions from concept to integration.
- Support Agile process‑based development including architecture and engineering spikes to address quick turnaround requests.
- Model system architecture using industry standard tools (Cameo).
- Develop and maintain systems engineering documentation including:
- Requirements
- System and subsystem design definition
- Interface definition
- Verification and Validation (V&V) methodology
- Trade study outcomes/reports/recommendations
- Interpret/Derive/Translate customer requirements to drive subsystem Software and Hardware implementations.
- Prepare for and conduct milestone reviews including Intermediate Design Reviews and Final Design Reviews.

- Experience as a systems engineer/architect on a U.S. Navy development program, on an undersea systems program.
- Prior experience serving as a technical representative in customer and internal meetings.
- Prior experience with Agile teams and usage of tools such as Jira/Confluence, Gitlab, and/or Redmine.
- Familiarity with video/image processing algorithms.
- Familiarity with MATLAB or other scientific analysis tools.
- Familiarity with software development or scripting languages (C, C++, Java, or Python) in Dev Ops pipelines.
- Familiarity in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with Cameo.
- Proficiency in analysis, critical thinking, and technical problem solving.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and be willing to adapt or improve.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
