The WorkThe Integrated Submarine Imaging System (ISIS) program in Manassas, Virginia, is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to support the development and integration of advanced imaging capabilities for current and next‑generation submarine platforms. This role will focus on designing, developing, testing, and containerizing image‑processing software, as well as creating new algorithms and enhancing legacy code that underpins mission‑critical submarine imaging. The position requires strong Linux/C++ expertise, GPU acceleration experience, and familiarity with optics, multispectral sensors, and modern Dev Ops practices.
BasicQualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics with 7+ years of experience, OR Master’s degree and 5+ years of related experience.
- Strong Linux development skills (build, debug, shell scripting, Git).
- Proficient in modern C++ (C++11/14/17).
- Solid grasp of optics fundamentals (imaging, lenses, diffraction).
- Hands‑on experience with core image‑processing algorithms (filtering, segmentation, feature extraction, registration) or comparable signal processing techniques.
- Proven CUDA development experience (kernel coding, memory management, performance tuning).
- Design and implement real‑time, high‑throughput software pipelines.
- Work with multispectral imaging sensors and perform sensor‑fusion preprocessing.
- Apply traditional image‑processing techniques and integrate AI/ML‑based vision algorithms.
- Develop GPU‑accelerated solutions using NVIDIA toolkits (Tensor
RT, NPP, CUDA, other SDKs). - Optimize code for low‑latency and real‑time execution on embedded or workstation platforms.
- Familiarity with performance profiling and debugging tools for both CPU and GPU.
- Experience with new algorithm research through experimentation, peer reviews, development, integration, and delivery.

Work SchedulesLockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five‑day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our paid time off benefits.
