The WorkWe are seeking a Hardware Engineer Lead / Architect to drive the design, development, and production of a high density, submarine‑compatible compute platform. The role will own the full life‑cycle—from concept through detailed design, prototyping, verification, and production—ensuring power, thermal, reliability, and modularity requirements are met in a constrained naval environment.
ResponsibilitiesThe role includes:
- Lead the end‑to‑end hardware development life‑cycle (concept, architecture, detailed design, prototyping, verification, production, and transition to sustainment).
- Engineer reliability and fault tolerance: redundant system design, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), health monitoring, alerting, and maintainability plans.
- Architect modular, scalable compute infrastructure: blade servers, GPU clusters, PCIe/NVLink high‑speed interconnects, and edge compute packaging that can be deployed as a rack as a unit.
- Drive system modernization/technology refresh processes, evaluating emerging COTS components and overseeing integration into the production line.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with 3+ years of related experience.
- Proven ability to shepherd a hardware concept through detailed design, prototype, verification, low‑rate production, and hand‑off to sustainment/manufacturing.
- Experience with blade servers, GPU clusters, high‑speed interconnects (PCIe, NVLink), and edge compute constraints.
- Knowledge of system modernization and technology refresh processes.
- Experience in high‑density power/thermal design with production experience.
- Emerging Authority – Recognized as a subject‑matter expert in high‑density power/thermal design with production experience.
- Motivated Learner – Eager to stay current with emerging technologies and to apply them to novel naval environments.
- Problem Solver – Ability to translate abstract requirements into concrete, space‑constrained, submarine‑qualified solutions.
