Role Overview

A Data Center Project Engineer will be part of Amazon Data Services, Inc.’s AWS Infrastructure Services team. You will work onsite on construction sites, collaborating with operations, networking, controls, security, and commissioning teams to build data centers that are energy‑efficient, cost‑effective, and support customers worldwide. You will own communication coordination with vendors, manage information workflows, and oversee document control including RFIs, change orders, reports, and schedule updates.

• Lead cross‑functional communication and coordination between regional general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams, ensuring seamless information flow for construction protocols, documentation access, and standardized procedures.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive tracking systems for design modifications, RFIs, and change orders, creating detailed dashboards with priority levels and deadlines for regional leadership review.
• Evaluate Method of Procedure (MOP) submissions for thoroughness, necessity, and risk assessment.
• Manage vendor onboarding processes, including security credentialing and orientation programs.
• Maintain current project management software with critical milestone updates, correspondence records, and document control.
• Coordinate and monitor owner‑furnished material deliveries to ensure timely arrival at construction sites.
• Establish and manage a centralized repository for contractor‑supplied construction data.
• Oversee quality assurance programs through implementation of various checklists, including substantial completion verification, safety protocols, and quality control measures.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of relevant discipline work experience.
• 4+ years of relevant experience constructing and managing complex MEP systems, including large‑scale power distribution/generation gear and cooling systems in mission‑critical environments.
• 3+ years of relevant experience managing general contractors and vendors, including RFP processes, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking in construction project execution.

• Strong understanding of data center system‑level architecture, including electrical (e.g., switch gear, UPS, transformers) and mechanical (cooling systems) engineering principles.
• Experience in designing and managing construction of complex data centers, critical infrastructure, or large‑scale MEP plants.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines, and ability to create and maintain project documentation.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes and regulations (e.g., Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA) and certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).
• Demonstrated ability to value engineer, finding innovative solutions to reduce costs and duration without compromising quality and reliability.

The base salary for this position is $96,000.00–$ USD annually, located in Manassas, VA. Your package may include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
