Civil Engineering, Field/Service Technician
IMEG is hiring a Crew Chief in Manassas, VA, to lead daily survey field crew operations and support the collection of accurate field data for land surveying projects. In this role, you will direct assigned field team members, help complete boundary, topographic, and construction stakeout work, and provide survey assistance under the leadership of an Office Coordinator or Senior Crew Chief.
You’ll also help keep field operations organized, safe, and aligned with project needs.
- Lead and perform daily field crew operations for land surveying projects, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction stakeouts
- Operate, maintain, and care for survey equipment, data collection tools, and other geodetic and reality capture equipment
- Transfer files between data collection systems and internal company project folders
- Perform quality checks and process field data, including downloading, maintaining, and verifying project data and reports while managing the database
- Maintain professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers
- Train field team members on the operation of survey equipment, including total station, GPS, levels, and data collectors used for field survey data collection
- Perform pre-field staking calculations and prepare as-staked cutsheets and deliverables as needed
- Operate a company vehicle in support of field activities
- Follow safety and security procedures at all times

Physical Requirements- All weather year round outdoor work environment with seasonal conditions including extreme heat index and wind‑chill/low temperatures.
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull.
- Will have exposure to loud noises.

Salary Range: $24.00 - $30.00/hr minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
