Gromelski and Associates, Inc. (GAI) partners with prime contractors to provide professional services across engineering design, software development, system integration, field installation, logistics support, training, multimedia, and technical support.

Performs network design, development, troubleshooting, and system performance analysis and design.

• Evaluate dual Container Network Interface (CNI) plugins to support multiple MTU sizes and determine feasibility of single versus dual MTU in PaaS environment.
• Migrate to a 10.CCE for the PaaS network while reducing ACLs for control plane traffic.
• Assess application usage of broadcast on VxLAN.
• Perform network engineering in support of the Network Working Group (NWG IPT).
• Monitor and maintain network, perform configuration management, support, problem resolution, performance analysis, metrics analysis, and failure analysis for the program.
• Interface with customers, developers, and support programs to ensure optimal communication flow between subsystems.
• Design, enhance, and plan computer network communications, including specifications and schematics for network architecture across subsystems.
• Evaluate and recommend network hardware/software selections, implementation techniques, and tools for efficient solutions meeting current and future capacity requirements.
• Conduct performance and failover testing of network devices and assess impact on system stability.
• Maintain technical expertise in network and computer hardware/software interconnection and interfaces, including firewalls, routers, switches, gateways, middleware, and OSI layers 1–4.
• Recommend new technologies to enhance network capabilities, performance, and monitoring.
• Document network for working group presentations and exchanges.

• Experience with Kubernetes and Container Network Interface (CNI) technologies (Calico, Cilium, Flannel, Canal, etc.).
• Experience with ACLs and network integration for various protocol standards.
• Analysis of VLANs, spanning tree, routing, ACLs, IP addressing, and subnetting.
• Knowledge of packet analysis tools such as Wireshark or other sniffers.

• Experience with TCP/IP, HSRP/VRRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, RSTP, MSTP, DHCP, 802.1q tagging, multicast, PAgP, LACP, QoS, and active-active technologies.
• Strong network troubleshooting and problem identification.
• Familiarity with Cisco and Arista device vendors.
• Familiarity with 1/10/25/40/100 Gig protocols, serial and satellite links, cable standards, and optical specs.
• Experience with Linux, SNMP, Python, and Bash.
• Knowledge of TCP/UDP packet formats.
• Knowledge of Software Defined Networking using OVS.
• Basic knowledge of Kubernetes, VxLAN.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience, with up to 3 years of professional experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Minimal

Full-time employee, 40 hours per week.

Location:

Manassas, VA (relocation assistance available). Start date negotiable. Salary range: $85,000–$135,000.
