About This RoleThe Prince William County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the full‑time position of Public Safety Telecommunicator (Dispatcher) in support of the Courts Division. The role requires clear and concise communication, self‑motivation, collaboration, adaptability, and strong observational and detail‐oriented skills.
Responsibilities- Gather information and monitor security cameras and video footage within the courthouse and its surrounding grounds.
- Receive and dispatch information via radio and telephone to deputies, duty officers, and other law enforcement personnel.
- Assist with radio traffic and prisoner activity coordination.
- Coordinate inmate movement inside and outside the courthouse building.
- Provide vital, time‑sensitive information to first responders through record checks for vehicle registration, property liens, criminal backgrounds, and public data sources.
- Answer calls and provide assistance as needed.
- Experience in a law enforcement and/or public safety environment.
- Current VCIN Certification or at least one year of experience operating VCIN/NCIC.
- One year of experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- One year of dispatch experience.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Entry hourly rate range: $23.25 – $34.19.
ScheduleMonday – Friday, 40 hours per week.
Special RequirementsSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre‑employment background check, including criminal and credit history, education and driver license verification, fingerprinting, and a polygraph examination.
