Salary Range: $18.00 – $19.00 per hour
Responsibilities- Provide supports identified by the Person-Centered Planning Team.
- Communicate and coordinate with families, the planning team, day program and other service providers.
- Teach, support, and perform household tasks such as cleaning, meal preparation, budgeting, and food shopping.
- Assist individuals in developing daily living skills in accordance with their Person
- Centered Plan. - Monitor medication, assist with medication administration or teach independent use.
- Provide crisis intervention, first aid or CPR and other assistance when needed.
- Plan, coordinate and participate in social activities with the individuals.
- Participate in assessment activities and the Person-Centered Planning Team as appropriate.
- Transport individuals and provide mobility training for appointments, shopping or events.
- Communicate and document activities and behaviors in the electronic health record and client files.
- Prepare meals according to a menu that reflects preferences and prescribed diets.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings required by the program.
- Inspect homes, report repair and maintenance needs, and enforce safety and sanitation procedures.
- Monitor visitors to the home as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas policies and procedures.
- Document all services in the electronic case management system daily.
- Work cooperatively and respectfully with the entire support team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED, or IEP.
- Minimum one year of experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities; less experience may be considered with enhanced supervision.
- Medication Administration Certification preferred, required by end of introductory period.
- Must pass all required trainings, new‑hire orientation, and maintain current certifications as required by CMS or governmental entities.
- Proficient computer skills for documentation.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving ability.
- Pass local and state background checks and drug testing.
- Bilingual in any language is an advantage.
- Operate a motor vehicle to transport self, individuals, and program supplies.
- Stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic home maintenance activities.
- Operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
- Remain in a sitting position for extended periods.
- Occupational exceptions may apply to ensure gender representation on duty.
