Field Installer / Field Support Technician

Location: Manassas, Virginia (Onsite)

• Install & fix systems: You’re physically working on imaging equipment onboard submarines.
• Troubleshoot everything: Hardware, software, networking, and fiber optics.
• Keep systems mission-ready: Fast diagnostics and repairs are critical.
• Handle upgrades & modifications: Engineering changes and system refreshes.
• Support Navy operations: Working alongside fleet and NAVSEA-directed efforts.
• Train users: You’ll teach Navy personnel how to operate/maintain systems.
• Document your work: Clear reporting is important in defense environments.
• Travel ~50%: Likely shipyards, naval bases, possibly deployments.

Must-have traits:

• Strong systems troubleshooting mindset (not just basic IT support)
• Comfort working solo in high-pressure environments
• Ability to interface with military personnel professionally
• Solid foundation in:
  • Servers / compute systems
  • Networking
  • Communications systems

Big advantage:

• Prior Navy experience—especially as:
  • Submarine Electronics Technician (ET)
  • Sonar Technician (STS)

You’re probably a good fit if you have:

• Experience with embedded or ruggedized systems
• Knowledge of network infrastructure + diagnostics
• Familiarity with fiber optics
• Background in field service, defense, or maritime systems

This is a serious, technical field role in the defense space. If you’ve got the background (or close to it), it can be a strong long-term career move. If not, the barrier to entry is pretty high due to the clearance and domain knowledge.
