Overview
We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support a mission‑critical defense program focused on submarine command, control, communications, computers, cyber‑defense, and intelligence (C5I). This role supports Systems Engineering and Intelligence efforts within a highly secure environment.
This position is based onsite in Manassas, VA and follows a standard 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Support network integration across a variety of protocol standards
- Analyze and troubleshoot network configurations, including:
- VLANs and spanning tree
- Static and dynamic routing protocols
- Access Control Lists (ACLs)
- IP addressing and subnetting
- Utilize packet analysis tools such as Wireshark or similar tools
- Diagnose and resolve network performance issues in complex environments
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support system integration
- Active DoD Secret Clearance (must be maintained)
- U.S. Citizenship (required for clearance eligibility)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of relevant professional experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with network protocols and technologies such as:
- TCP/IP, HSRP/VRRP, RIP, OSPF, BGP
- RSTP (802.1w), MSTP (802.1s), DHCP
- VLAN tagging (802.1q), multicast
- Ether Channel (PAgP/LACP), QoS
- Active‑active technologies (vPC, IRF)
- Experience designing and implementing complex or high‑performance computing networks
- Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills
- Familiarity with network hardware vendors such as Cisco and Arista
- Knowledge of high‑speed networking (1/10/25/40/100 Gig), optical standards, and satellite/serial links
- Experience with Linux operating systems, SNMP, Python, or Bash scripting
- Understanding of TCP/UDP packet structures
- Exposure to Software‑Defined Networking (SDN), including OVS
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and VxLAN
