General ResponsibilitiesThe Coordinator of Information Technology plans, manages, and coordinates the program activities and personnel of the department, supporting the use of technology to meet the Division's strategic mission, goals, and objectives.
- Plans and supervises the daily activities of the Division technology department.
- Develops strategic and operational goals and objectives, and directs full lifecycle activities related to the Division’s computer and server hardware.
- Leads the design, installation, operation, and management of the Division’s networking, cloud, and domain infrastructures, as well as mission critical systems.
- Oversees engineering and infrastructure activities, including testing, implementation, and maintenance of security technologies and systems.
- Develops and implements strategies to migrate and maintain mission critical systems to network-connected topologies, including VoIP, public address, clocks, bells, environmental controls, and other life safety systems.
- Plans and directs end‑user technology support processes, including maintaining ticketing systems.
- Ensures that the architecture and design of the Division’s information systems are functional and secure.
- Collaborates with and provides recommendations to the Director of Information Technology in identifying, developing, prioritizing, and implementing cybersecurity initiatives.
- Creates, implements, and manages the Division’s backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans and strategies.
- Designs, implements and manages small and large‑scale technology projects.
- Directs asset management and inventory functions for technology resources within the Division.
- Establishes and maintains a system to analyze and evaluate online applications and software and determine applicability to school system needs.
- Assists in the development and administration of the department’s operating and capital budgets.
- Determines department technological needs, presents justifications and prepares specifications for procurement of items.
- Manages, reviews, and analyzes department operations and costs.
- Researches and evaluates emerging hardware and software technology. Creates and maintains written policies and procedures for the implementation of technologies.
- Prepares, analyzes and submits written and oral correspondence, reports and other documents as required.
- Presents information and recommendations to senior management, School Board members, and other Division stakeholders.
- Attends relevant school division, local, state and national meetings.
- Establishes a practice of continuous improvement to provide business solutions and innovations to achieve the Division’s mission, goals, and objectives, and is accountable for outcomes.
- Plans professional development activities for department employees to ensure best practices are maintained.
- Coordinates and supervises the work assigned to employees, including planning and conducting staff meetings.
- Oversees the work of vendors or contractors.
- Develops and maintains working relationships with school, department, and outside agency personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of security, enterprise domain, wired and wireless networking, and VoIP architectures, as well as cloud infrastructures to support operations.
- Knowledge of server virtualization and data backup/recovery technologies.
- Knowledge of structured cabling systems including horizontal cabling, backbone fiber‑optic, cross‑connections, and testing.
- Knowledge of hardware repair services for laptops and computers, including parts inventory management and warranty repair processes.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws related to educational technologies.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and the general public.
