Facilities Technician - Data Center

The position will require extensive experience in data center operations
, specifically in the physical installation and maintenance of server and network hardware
.

This role involves organizing, installing, and managing server racks, installing and managing cabling, and ensuring all equipment is properly connected and functioning.

Requires 3-days/week onsite in Manassas, Virginia

• Physically install, secure, and manage servers, storage devices, and network equipment in data center racks.
• Ensure all equipment is properly labeled, documented, and aligned with data center standards and best practices.
• Installation and testing of copper and fiber optic cabling.
• Perform cable management to ensure efficient airflow and accessibility.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues in a timely manner.
• Perform replacement of hard drives, power supplies and other components within server, storage, and network devices.

• Maintain accurate records of all installations, configurations, and maintenance activities.
• Develop and update procedural documentation and guidelines.

• Work closely with network engineers, system administrators, and other IT staff to support data center operations and projects.
• Provide technical support and guidance to team members and other departments as required.

• Adhere to all data center policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized data center environment.

Education and Experience:

Proven experience in data center operations, specifically in rack and stack activities and network switch configurations.

• Strong knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware installation and maintenance.
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network switches and routers (experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar equipment preferred).
• Familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools and cable management practices.
• Understanding of network protocols and topologies.

Hourly Rate: $45-$50/hour
