IT Support, Systems Engineer
Overview
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. The team supports AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power and cooling equipment to ensure continual customer access to the cloud.
Key Responsibilities- Scale support of several data‑center locations and manage day‑to‑day capacity.
- Collaborate with internal customers and external vendors to facilitate project execution under the direction of Network Leadership and Technical Project Managers.
- Leverage experience supporting large‑scale, enterprise‑class networks, including implementation and troubleshooting.
- Produce and maintain best‑practice operating procedures and refine operational processes.
- Work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment with regular peer and customer interaction.
- Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing and interconnectivity issues, including patch panels and cords.
- Specify power and cooling requirements and ensure hardware racking/stacking for new equipment.
- Participate in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Travel within and outside of the regional work area as required.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in a 24/7 environment, participating in primary responder rotation and after‑hours support as needed.
- Operate in cramped, elevated and/or noisy environments.
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs and gangways safely and without limitation.
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience with network troubleshooting tools (telnet, test-net connection, tracert, tracetcp, iperf, ntttcp, dig, packet capture tools) or managing network troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of major command line protocols (Cisco IOS, JunOS, GNU/Linux) and common networking protocols (BGP, OSPF).
