Job Description

CYBERSECURITY ANALYST

Advance your career while impacting our national security in cyber as a Cybersecurity Analyst e, technologists have many paths to grow a meaningful career supporting cyber missions and operations across the federal government.

Your Role
  • Monitor system performance and availability using system monitoring tools.
  • Perform initial triage of system alerts to determine their severity and impact.
  • Respond to alerts and incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and resolving system issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as firmware upgrades, patch management, and configuration changes.
  • Escalate incidents to higher-tier technicians or engineering teams as necessary.
  • Document incident details, actions taken, and lessons learned for future reference and analysis.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree:
    Security+CE
  • Certification Requirements: Must meet position and certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level 1 or Information Assurance Manager Level 1 or obtain and approved Incident Responder certification within 6 months of the date of hire.
  • Technical Training, Certifications, or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience: 2 year (4+ preferred) technical experience; 1 year of helpdesk experience.
  • Preferred Experience: Department of State employee or contractor experience.
  • System Monitoring Tools: Experience with Splunk and Science Logic.
  • Endpoint Security: Experience with Tenable Security Center and Symantec Endpoint Protection.
  • Networking: Familiarity with Cisco Switches and Firewalls.
  • Virtualization: Familiarity with VMWare Products.
  • Operating Systems: Working knowledge of operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Linux.
  • Fundamental Knowledge: Strong understanding of network, compute, and storage concepts.
  • Preferred

    Certifications:

    CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Shift: Dayshift work only.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required and Top Secret clearance.
