Dev Ops Software Engineer Position Overview
At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self‑motivated Dev Ops Software Engineer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for both development of capabilities and the sustainment of the tool stack and software used in the execution of Aurora's mission — Advancing the Future of Flight. The technologies and activities are broader than other traditional Dev Sec Ops roles; the candidate should be able to demonstrate skills in areas such as Git Lab CI/CD pipeline design, containerization, and administration of software stacks.
- Work with other IT professionals and engineering teams that deliver time‑critical designs for our products.
- Translate modestly defined requirements into solutions that meet intent and conform to Aurora IT standards.
- Manage development cycles in integration/continuous deployment mode, including process monitoring, incident management, testing, selection and implementation of technologies, tools, and working methods, automation of security controls, and control and management of security operations.
- Investigate threats and conduct risk analysis to identify threats in the process, respond quickly to code updates.
- Conduct vulnerability assessment, recognize latest vulnerabilities with code analysis and resolve them promptly.
- Retrieve/export data from databases and other systems using queries, exporting capabilities, and other effective methods.
- Develop automations to be used throughout the organization’s technologies.
- Perform and provide 2nd‑level technical support for complex issues.
- Must be a U.S. Person.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or equivalent corporate experience and certifications.
- Support IT with installation and maintenance of infrastructure and in‑house developed software applications.
- Proficient in some languages used in the software division: C/C++, Python, MATLAB / Simulink, Bash scripting.
- Demonstrated ability to take basic user requirements and translate them into written design/requirements and implement those in the listed technologies.
- Author design documentation and release documentation outlining infrastructure capabilities.
- Advanced skill in designing and integrating complex tool stacks across multiple platforms and applications.
- Ability to work with IT to tailor NIST cybersecurity platform requirements into concrete solutions within systems and applications.
- Familiarity with NIST-800 security policies.
- Experience working with software division stakeholders to optimize and automate workflows and solve complex problems across division technologies.
- Familiarity with lifecycle management tools such as the Atlassian tool suite, and package management solutions such as Conan.
- Knowledge of implementation of risk assessment techniques and the latest security best practices.
- Proficient communication skills to teach the team concepts like scalability, automation, and security.
Ability to work on‑site weekly at our Manassas, VA site.
Salary Range (Annualized USD)- Minimum Range: $69,000.00 to $
- Maximum Range: $88,000.00 to $
