Position Summary
Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineering Manager for the SQQ‑89 engineering team. The role requires integration of software, hardware, and data science to develop advanced solutions for customers.
Responsibilities- Conduct technical engagements and presentations with internal leadership and external customers.
- Provide technical leadership and coordination across all aspects of the SQQ‑89 program portfolio.
- Identify and remove technical barriers, real or perceived.
- Communicate technical information at all levels, from entry level to directors, VPs, and customers.
- Lead and manage engineering teams, motivating, energizing, and guiding them.
- Write proposals and prepare basis‑of‑estimate documentation.
- Assign work tasks, conduct performance appraisals, career planning, and training development for direct reports.
- Plan staffing and workforce requirements; interview and hire personnel as needed.
- Coordinate staffing priorities and funding requirements with project leads.
- Represent the domain area as a stakeholder in programs.
- Review and approve functional proposal inputs, including BOEs and scopes of work.
- Own, execute, and report on department‑level initiatives.
- Act as a change agent focused on affordability and advancing technical capabilities.
- Develop and support process improvement goals and opportunity development.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and 14+ years of professional experience; or a Master’s degree with 12+ years of professional experience.
- Effective communication across a broad and diverse group of management, team members, and leadership.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams with task planning, budget management, and employee development.
- Proven ability to resolve and drive complex technical issues to closure.
- Strong customer focus with a record of outstanding satisfaction.
- Experience with Agile methods and proposals.
- Ability to obtain a Department of Defense SECRET or higher security clearance.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build consensus and relationships.
- Authority in systems thinking techniques and ability to train others.
- Experience with systems integration and test.
- Experience with requirements derivation, flow‑down, and verification events.
- Proficiency in Model‑Based Systems Engineering tools.
- Knowledge of program management, finance, contracts, Earned Value Management (EVM), and business insight.
This position requires a U.S. citizenship and a Department of Defense SECRET or higher security clearance.
