Purpose

The Team Leader will be expected to take on a leadership role within the engineering team to provide engineering and design services to clients and will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients and other disciplines to deliver on schedule and on budget projects. The role also involves training and mentoring junior staff, managing workload for the team, and leading engineering and production through planning and design of civil projects.

Responsibilities
  • Receive broad guidance from senior‑level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution.
  • Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
  • Assist with marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with developers and government agencies.
  • Execute multiple projects to ensure successful completion on time and within budget.
  • Effectively execute project contracts and develop internal staff.
  • Assist in developing processes and provide input on achieving company and office operational excellence.
  • Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommend new practices or changes.
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations.
  • Drive the profitability and growth of projects.
  • Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues.
  • Manage competing demands and establish priorities for staff.
  • Handle client interaction, including preparation of new contract proposals, change orders, and attendance or leadership of project meetings.
  • Lead and manage current project teams from bid until completion, while seeking future business.
  • Mentor and direct junior staff, coordinate with project managers, and set goals and performance metrics.
  • Review project changes and contractual alterations that may affect staffing or budget.
  • Provide technical assistance in design problem resolution, including field investigation, detailed design work, and review of calculations.
  • Act as the technical specialist for advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area.
