UVA Health's Bull Run Manassas is hiring a Nurse Practitioner to join their growing team. The incumbent will provide primary health care and perform selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians.
Patient CareInterviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention.
- Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
- Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Collaborates with other departments or disciplines to achieve desired quality outcomes.
- Monitors quality of core processes in department.
- Applies the principles of safety and infection control to ensure the safety of all patients.
Demonstrates superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Works within a team to achieve patient and team goals.
- Shares and initiates regular and professional communication with co-workers.
- Participates in regular staff meetings.
- Identifies opportunities to improve processes based on feedback from staff and customers.
Flexible Schedule/hours available. Providers have 1 long day shift, with patient care from 8am to 7pm, Tuesday to Friday. First appointment is at 8am and last appointment ends at 4:30pm. Schedules arranged to comply with 36 hours a week required.
Call Schedule- On Call responsibilities are distributed among all providers at Bull Run Family Medicine Manassas, Haymarket and Family and Sports Medicine Bristow. Phone answering services are provided by a professional call service with a triage team available after hours. If they are unable to address the call, they will be escalated to provider On Call. The current rotation provides for 3-4 weeks of coverage in a year (approximately).
Knowledge
Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of practice physicians.
- Obtains complete history and physical data on patients.
- Reviews patient records.
- Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
- Performs a complete physical exam and records findings.
- Establishes presumptive diagnosis.
- Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
- Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
- Obtains complete history and physical data on patients.
- Reviews patient records.
- Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.

Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Ability to work with management team and physicians; demonstrated customer service skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand. The job requires constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
