Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper, establishing a personalized relationship with the patient and collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health. The RN accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with current policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Patient Care
- Advocate for patients and implement interdisciplinary plans of care.
- Educate patients and support system.
- Analyze, modify, and implement strategies to progress the patient.
- Ensure completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and related therapies.
- Prioritize duties according to patient needs and acuity.
- Teamwork
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members and internal customers.
- Mentor, precept, orient, and provide feedback to team members.
- Resolve conflicts independently.
- Accept responsibility for actions and respond positively to feedback.
- Medical Knowledge
- Operate equipment such as portable cardiac monitors and bedside commodes.
- Perform routine nursing care, including starting IVs, dressing changes, etc. for multiple patients.
- Assist in critical situations (CPR, medication administration, transfers).
- Transport patients between departments via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. 4‑Year/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
- Licensure: Current RN licensure in applicable state required. CPI certification within three months for certain departments. Refresher course required for inactive license conditions.
- Skills: Basic nursing skills, charge responsibility, multitasking, medication administration, verbal and written communication, basic computer use, safe handling of patients.
Medium to Heavy physical demand: constant standing, walking, bending/stooping. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. Safe handling equipment for >35 lbs. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.
CompensationBase hourly rate: $33.70 – $56.91. Additional incentive compensation may apply.
OtherMay require safety equipment such as HEPA mask.
On‑call responsibilities as directed.
Travel between campus buildings and remote facilities required.
