Job Description
Registered Nurse Emergency Services (Job Code: RN1529) at UVA Community Health, part of the UVA Health academic health system, provides critical care at UVA Health Northern VA Culpeper. The RN serves as a team leader, establishing personalized relationships with patients and their support systems, collaborating with physicians and other health professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care that promote optimal health.
The RN accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for care management and operates under the direction of the Assistant Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager.

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required. 4‑Year/Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience: 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Current RN licensure in the applicable state required. CPI certification within three months of hire required for Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Central Staffing and Scheduling Office (CSSO). If your RN license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, a Board‑approved refresher course must be completed before reactivation.
Apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.

- Operate various equipment, including portable cardiac monitors, bedside commodes, etc.
- Provide routine nursing care such as starting IVs, performing dressing changes, and handling multiple patients efficiently.
- Assist in critical situations, including administering CPR.
- Administer and evaluate medication therapies; perform patient transfers and transport via wheelchair, hospital bed, or stretcher to other departments.
Medium to Heavy Physical Demand:
Continuous standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and legible writing. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For weights over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.

The base compensation range for this role is $34.71 – $60.67 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, prior work experience, and/or education. The pay range does not include applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for eligible positions.
