Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
Demonstrates mastery in engineering disciplines including electronics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, TCP/IP networking, wireless communication protocols, chemistry, ionizing radiation, human anatomy and physiology. Independently designs and develops healthcare technology management programs to meet the needs of a diverse healthcare population of patients, caregivers and LIPs.

- Perform as full-service expert in focus clinical and administrative areas including but not limited to radiology/imaging, laboratory or respiratory therapy.
- Demonstrate mastery of preventive maintenance (PM) and repairs on minor to complex medical equipment.
- Maintain UVA medical equipment inventory system.
- Complete accurate paperwork for addition of new equipment including description, warranty, expiration dates, model, class, department, and location.
- Verify serial numbers, model numbers and clinical engineering identification of all maintained equipment.
- Resolve discrepancies in computerized equipment management system; inventory in specialty area is validated annually.
- Coordinate and/or perform installation and initial inspections on medical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety rules, codes, practices and policies.
- Mentor and train technical staff.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Associate's Degree or CBET, Microsoft, Medical Device Manufacturer Certification, etc.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License.
Job requires sitting and standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/climbing ladders, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive) and walking (distance: 1–2 miles/day), repetitive motion: computer keyboard and driving/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills;
Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
Ability to lift/push/pull 50–100 lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, infectious disease and dust.
The starting base rate for this role is $45.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
