The Quality Assurance Associate supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and product assurance activities within a missile manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with contractual, regulatory, and internal quality requirements while promoting a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement across production operations.
Responsibilities- Perform in-process and final inspections of missile components, assemblies, and systems to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements
- Review and validate manufacturing documentation including work orders, travelers, and inspection records for accuracy and completeness
- Identify, document, and support resolution of nonconformances in accordance with Quality Management System (QMS) procedures
- Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for product and process defects
- Ensure compliance with AS9100
, ISO 9001
, and customer-specific quality requirements - Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement
- Participate in internal audits and support external/customer audits as required
- Monitor and report key quality metrics (e.g., yield, defect rates, rework trends)
- Verify calibration status of inspection, measuring, and test equipment (IM&TE)
- Support configuration control and traceability requirements for missile systems and components
- Promote adherence to safety, handling, and regulatory requirements (e.g., hazardous materials, explosive safety protocols)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, or related field OR equivalent experience in aerospace/defense manufacturing
- 2+ years of experience in a quality role within manufacturing (aerospace or defense preferred)
- Working knowledge of AS9100
, ISO 9001
, and quality inspection methodologies - Experience with nonconformance reporting systems and CAPA processes
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Experience with missile systems, propulsion, or defense-related manufacturing
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Fishbone analysis)
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and digital quality records
