Job Description
We are seeking cable technicians to support the installation of new conveyance systems, structured cabling, server cabinets, and related infrastructure inside a large data center in Manassas, VA. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in data centers or similar technical environments. This role involves hands‑on installation work inside a cleared‑out data hall where technicians will be building out pathways, installing racks, and supporting structured cabling activities as the site prepares for new equipment deployment.
RoleResponsibilities
- Install cable trays, ladder racks, conduits, and other overhead and underfloor conveyance systems throughout the data hall.
- Build, install, and level server racks and cabinets, including seismic anchoring, grounding, and hardware mounting.
- Pull, route, dress, and terminate structured cabling (Cat5/6, fiber optic) within the data center environment.
- Terminate panels, patching fields, and equipment connections, ensuring clean and organized cable management.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, rack elevations, and installation standards to ensure high-quality, accurate builds.
- Perform basic hardware installation tasks such as mounting switches, PDUs, and other rack‑mounted devices (no configuration required).
- Complete all required paperwork: timesheets, material tracking, work orders, and documentation updates.
- Maintain strict adherence to quality, safety, and data center protocol standards.
- Support project leads with additional duties as needed to keep the build‑out on schedule.
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in data centers, cabling installation, or similar structured‑build environments.
- Strong understanding of rack installation, cable routing, and data center infrastructure practices.
- Ability to work confidently with hand tools, power tools, and installation hardware.
- Experience working from prints, diagrams, or installation standards.
- Detail‑oriented, reliable, and able to work effectively in a team setting.
- Must be comfortable wearing full PPE (steel‑toe boots, hard hat, vest, safety glasses, gloves).
This role is ideal for technicians looking to advance within the data center infrastructure field. Work Environment- Work takes place inside the data center, typically in cleared or partially built‑out areas.
- Work may involve walking long distances, lifting equipment, and working overhead.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 – $23.00/hr.
