Data Center Cable Technician

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Data Center Cable Technicians to support structured cabling and fiber installation work on a large‑scale data center project in the Manassas, VA area. This opportunity is ideal for technicians with hands‑on cabling experience inside a data center environment, particularly those who want long‑term growth and the potential to transition into a permanent role. Technicians will work within an active construction environment alongside senior leads to support ongoing infrastructure buildouts.

What You'll Do

- Pull and route fiber optic cable and copper cabling throughout the data center

- Perform terminations on fiber and copper connections

- Test and certify cabling using Fluke testers

- Dress and organize cable bundles to meet data center standards

- Drop cable using fish tape and route through designated pathways

- Install cable trays, pathways, support structures, and related hardware

- Perform grounding tasks for racks, equipment, and cable as required

- Perform fire‑stopping procedures and install sleeves for penetrations

- Follow construction prints and installation standards

- Complete documentation and required project paperwork accurately and on time

- Adhere to all safety requirements in a data center construction environment

- Support additional tasks as assigned by the project team

What You Bring

- Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience working in a data center environment

- Experience pulling fiber optic cable

- Experience terminating copper and fiber

- Experience using Fluke testers for certification

- Ability to follow prints, directions, and structured installation processes

- Experience using hand tools (snips, screwdrivers, wrenches, socket sets, etc.)

- Ability to articulate technical experience clearly and professionally

- Ability to pass a background check and drug test

Nice to Have

- Experience dressing cable bundles to data center standards

- Experience building and grounding server racks

- Exposure to large‑scale, fast‑paced construction environments

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00/hr.
