Job SummaryThe primary responsibilities of the Network Technician – Data Center include supporting the installation of infrastructure such as racks, cabinets, grounding, fiber guides, Unistrut, ladder racks, and structured cabling. The role requires maintaining control of inside plant activities, reading ISP diagrams and drawings, and keeping accurate field notes. Fieldwork may involve overtime, weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.
Responsibilities- Perform data center cage and overhead ladder rack installations per industry standards.
- Follow design engineer instructions and specifications, maintain project scope, and adhere to safety procedures.
- Prepare engineering field notes; interpret drawings and make recommendations for changes.
- Understand and meet customer timelines.
- Review project profitability to ensure budget compliance.
- Source high‑quality project managers and technicians through professional network.
- Act as corporate liaison to promote operational efficiency and positive work culture.
- Coordinate and communicate activities with colleagues, departments, and management.
- Basic knowledge of tools, construction practices, and communication networks.
- Understanding of basket tray and overhead conveyance.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
- Familiarity with cable installation practices, dressing, lacing, and testing procedures.
- Knowledge of AC and DC power plant fundamentals.
- Understanding of fiber optic cable types, makeup, and manufacturer specifications.
- Knowledge of ISP rack, cabinet, ladder rack, fiber guide, and termination panels.
- Proficiency with cable testing equipment and procedures.
- Awareness of inside plant safety measures and data center security processes.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft applications).
- Detail oriented with sound decision‑making ability.
- Capable of multitasking and staying organized under pressure.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- High School or GED (minimum education).
- Five or more years of relevant experience.
- Field of study:
Electronics, Telecommunications, Construction, or Project Management.
Must be able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 75 lbs. Work in all weather conditions.
