Competitive/Hourly
- Clears work area and maintains safe jobsite conditions.
- Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
- Communicates with public and private property owners to explain work to be performed.
- Assembles material on the ground for installation by line persons or apprentices.
- Works in traffic‑congested areas; may require training on traffic flagging.
- Operates a variety of tools such as manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, jack hammers, and hand lines.
- Minimum age: 18 years or older.
- Must be able to work long hours, overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, and call‑out duties.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Must be able to operate independently and safely under varying weather and terrain conditions.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Driver's license required.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home.
- Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.

CONTINUOUS (up to 100%)Standing, walking, sense of touch, speaking clearly, seeing, reaching, range of motion, hearing, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting 10–50 lbs., balancing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
SafetyDue to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance and coordinate equipment, maintain attention for extended periods, work in all weather, wear personal protective equipment as necessary, enter and exit vehicles frequently, and communicate effectively with others. Work includes nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency disaster response. Employees work around hazardous equipment, energized parts, excessive noise from machines (jack hammers, chainsaws), and at varying heights above ground, in manholes, or confined spaces with proper personal protective equipment.
