Diesel Technician

Position Description

Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Manassas, Virginia. The role focuses on maintenance and repair of heavy‑duty diesel vehicles.

• Hourly Pay: $28.00 per hour
• Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE certification, up to $700
• Quarterly Bonus:
  Up to $500 every quarter
• Schedule:
  
  Monday–Friday, second shift 3:00 pm–11:30 pm

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical certification before college or post‑secondary degree (preferred)
• Basic tools required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
• At least two years of combined classroom training and work experience (preferred)
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
• Must obtain a CDL within six months after hire
• Pass a Ryder drug test
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification for the last 3 years)

• Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, using diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints
• Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
• Work in compliance with all federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
• Perform other support duties as required, such as service island support
