Public Works Maintenance Worker (Streets): $20.98 per hour.
Equipment Operator I: $23.13 - $31.81 per hour, DOQ.
Perform essential construction and maintenance work to keep our streets, utilities, and public facilities in top condition. From repairing roadways and sidewalks to assisting with utility projects, you'll be making a real impact every day.
Responsibilities- Perform construction, repair, and maintenance, including concrete and asphalt work, of City streets, sidewalks, curbs, and drainage systems.
- Patch holes, compact road surfaces, maintain drainage systems, install/repair/cut pipe, construct/repair ditches, clear drainage obstructions, break up pipes and concrete, mix cement, and install fences.
- Excavate and grade sites, dig holes/trenches, and shovel/spread/level materials (dirt, sand, gravel, concrete, asphalt, etc.).
- Operate a variety of tools, equipment, and vehicles for road maintenance and repair tasks.
- Assist with traffic control, marker, cone, and signage installation, and roadway safety measures.
- Respond to emergency situations such as storm clean-up and hazardous roadway conditions.
- Work as part of a team to keep the City running smoothly and looking great.
Responsible for operating light and medium-sized equipment and performing manual work functions associated with construction, maintenance, and repair of City streets, roads, and related infrastructure. Duties include driving vehicles over public roads, work sites, rights-of-way, parks, and other City property while obeying all traffic laws and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities- Operate various equipment and vehicles to complete tasks related to the maintenance, upkeep, installation, and construction of City grounds, property, utilities, rights-of-way, and other infrastructure.
- Drive single, tandem, and tri-axle dump trucks or brush trucks to transport and haul materials between original and final destinations for use in maintenance and construction projects.
- Perform manual work functions associated with construction, maintenance, and repair projects, which may include repairing roads/asphalt, compacting road surfaces, installing/repairing pipe, constructing/repairing ditches, repairing/replacing drainage culverts, repairing potholes, constructing sidewalks, cutting pipes, installing fences, installing/repairing irrigation systems, mowing right-of-ways, cutting trees and brush, groundskeeping, maintaining athletic fields, assembling playground equipment, digging holes or trenches, shoveling materials, lifting/moving heavy materials, flagging traffic, and picking up debris/litter.
- Assist with traffic control at road construction sites by setting up road signs, flagging and directing traffic, and assisting other equipment operators in maneuvering equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of training and/or experience in the operation of equipment used in roadway repair, maintenance, and installation.
- Valid Class A commercial driver’s license;
Public Works Maintenance Worker (Streets) candidate must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsement(s) within six months of hire. - Experience in construction and maintenance of public infrastructure is preferred for the Public Works Maintenance Worker (Streets).
- Ability to work in emergency situations such as snow removal, storms, etc.
- Required to undergo a post-offer, pre-employment criminal background check, driving record check, education/employer verification, physical, and drug screen.
