Position Summary
Position Summary — The Cable Splicer is a safety-focused professional who constructs and repairs electrical underground systems. You may work on energized and de-energized systems and may travel to different job sites, including out-of-state locations, as operational needs dictate. You will report to the Foreman.
Essential Functions- Perform new construction, maintain and repair energized and de-energized underground new work systems, prioritizing safety.
- Lead crew members in the absence of the Employee in Charge and conduct pre-job and tailgate safety briefings.
- Train and mentor apprentices and groundmen.
- Install and repair underground power conductors and related hardware.
- Have comprehensive knowledge of tagging procedures, grounding, and induced voltage on energized and de-energized lines using the proper tools and test equipment; understand underground services, infrastructure and duct banks.
- Work in confined spaces and in proximity to energized equipment.
- Operate a backhoe, bucket trucks, digger trucks, and a mini excavator.
- Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
- Be available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on-call rotation.
- Perform live-line work using approved gloving and hot-stick techniques on energized lines.
- Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and possess a comprehensive understanding of insulated protective equipment to isolate differences of potential.
- Three (3) years of recent underground experience.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
- Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

The role may require talking, listening, and the use of hand signals to communicate. The job frequently requires standing, walking, and using hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools or controls; reaching with hands and arms.
Work EnvironmentOccasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The role may involve extreme conditions at construction sites. The work environment can be loud, with responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
