We are seeking a dependable, skilled, and safety-minded Roof Repair Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting residential and/or commercial roofing systems, identifying the source of leaks or damage, and completing high-quality repairs that protect our customers' homes and businesses.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working at heights, enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality workmanship, and understands that a successful repair is about more than replacing a few shingles. Our technicians are expected to diagnose the actual cause of a roofing problem, clearly communicate what they find, complete repairs correctly, and leave the property clean and secure.
Key ResponsibilitiesRoof Inspection & Diagnosis
- Inspect residential and commercial roofing systems for leaks, damage, deterioration, and potential problem areas.
- Identify the source and cause of roof leaks, including issues that may not be immediately visible.
- Inspect shingles, flashing, vents, pipe collars, penetrations, valleys, roof decking, gutters, and other roofing components.
- Identify structural or decking damage that may require additional repair.
- Determine the appropriate repair method based on roof condition, roofing materials, and the extent of damage.
- Communicate findings to supervisors, project managers, estimators, and customers as required.
- Repair active and potential roof leaks.
- Remove and replace broken, damaged, loose, or missing shingles.
- Repair or replace damaged flashing around chimneys, walls, valleys, vents, skylights, and other roof penetrations.
- Seal and repair roof vents, pipe boots, penetrations, and other vulnerable areas.
- Repair damaged roof decking or structural components when within the scope of the technician's training and assigned work.
- Perform temporary emergency repairs when permanent repairs cannot immediately be completed.
- Complete repairs according to company standards, manufacturer recommendations, applicable building codes, and industry best practices.
- Ensure completed repairs are watertight, secure, and visually professional.
- To support completing customer claims, perform shingle and/or siding sample pulls to send to insurance adjustors
- Perform repair tests with appropriate documentation to send to insurance adjustors to support customer claims
- Take clear before, during, and after photographs of roof damage and completed repairs.
- Accurately document inspection findings, recommended repairs, materials used, and work completed.
- Provide information needed for customer reports, estimates, invoices, warranty documentation, or insurance-related records.
- Explain repair findings and completed work to customers in a professional and easy-to-understand manner when requested.
- Treat every customer's home, business, and property with care and respect.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while representing the company.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Properly use ladders, fall-protection equipment, harnesses, ropes, anchors, and other required safety equipment.
- Inspect tools and safety equipment before use.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Protect landscaping, siding, windows, driveways, and other areas of the customer's property while completing repairs.
- Remove roofing debris, nails, packaging, and unused materials from the job site.
- Properly load, unload, transport, and secure roofing materials, ladders, tools, and equipment.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, property damage, or unexpected structural concerns to management.
- Previous roofing, construction, exterior repair, or related trade experience preferred.
- Knowledge of common roofing systems, materials, and repair techniques.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot roof leaks and water-intrusion problems.
- Ability to safely use roofing tools, ladders, and related equipment.
- Comfortable working on roofs and at elevated heights.
- Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Professional communication and customer-service skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record if operating a company vehicle is required.
The Roof Repair Technician must be able to:
- Climb and work safely from ladders and on roofing surfaces.
- Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl, and maintain balance for extended periods.
- Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull roofing materials, tools, ladders, and equipment.
- Work at various heights and roof pitches.
- Safely navigate uneven, sloped, or potentially slippery surfaces.
