Modernization Software Engineer
As a driven software developer ready to modernize mission‑critical systems that directly impact national defense, you will contribute to transforming legacy code into robust, scalable solutions that help ensure Navy combat systems remain effective. This role is more than coding; you’ll work on a small, embedded software development team that analyzes legacy system complexity, deploys advanced development tools, and integrates modernized solutions.
As an experienced software engineer, you’ll engage with the client daily to execute targeted enhancements.
- 5+ years of software development in Rust and C or C++, including complexity analysis, integration testing, and debugging in a professional environment
- Experience with containerization such as Docker or Kubernetes, and CI/CD
- Knowledge of Linux and Windows environments, and networking fundamentals and tools such as Git, SSH, PuTTY, or CLI
- Knowledge of foundational software engineering principles such as modularity, memory management, design patterns, code review, or documentation
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with Python
- Experience in modernizing legacy code
- Experience with Navy acoustic or sonar systems, or other real‑time signal processing
- Knowledge of modern streaming platforms such as Kafka or Redpanda
- Ability to display interest in applying AI‑forward approaches to developer workflows such as hosting LLMs, vector databases, or Lang Chain
- Secret clearance

Compensation:Salary range $86,800.00 to $ (annualized USD). This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
