Software Engineer, Unix​/Linux, Java Developer

Position Summary

Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full‑time Software Engineer to support Navy programs. Duties include software development tasks using Java and C++ on Linux operating systems. The position is located onsite at a facility requiring a Secret security clearance.

In this role, you will perform software development tasks supporting Navy programs. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of coding in Java/C++ on a Linux Operating System.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven Java development experience, including multithreading.
• Strong Linux/Unix development, integration, and troubleshooting background.
• Ability to integrate, test, troubleshoot, and refactor software systems.

• Advanced Java multithreading
• Database experience (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or comparable)
• Inter‑process messaging middleware (gRPC, Artemis)
• UI frameworks:
  JavaFX / Swing
• Reactive programming (RxJava, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow)
• Performance‑tuning tools (JVisualVM, JConsole, JProfiler)
• Containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Agile full‑lifecycle development familiarity
• Bash scripting proficiency
• 3+years combined experience in Linux, scripting/software development, and configuration management

Active government Secret security clearance required; US citizen.
