THE WORK
In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with industry-leading design professionals and contribute to groundbreaking projects. Be a part of the Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) Artificial Intelligence (AI) team. Work with our team as we develop cutting‑edge tools for our Navy customer through the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities into tactical systems.
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Development and integration of Generative AI tools into tactical and development systems
- Interfacing with developers, program leadership, and customers to develop tools for specific use cases
- Adapting AI tools for use in air‑gapped environments
- Upgrading locally‑hosted Large Language Models and the associated tools that leverage the LLM
- Interfacing with users of GenAI tools to provide technical support and solicit feedback
- Building data pipelines to ingest data from a variety of sources
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related STEM field
- 1 year of relevant experience
- Experience with designing, developing, and/or maintaining AI agents and large language models
- Familiarity with retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) in AI agent workflows
- Familiarity with open‑source agentic libraries and tools (Lang Chain, MCP, etc.)
- Active security clearance and willingness to work onsite in Manassas, VA
- Experience building Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) tools on custom datasets
- Experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining MCP servers
- Interest in optimizing AI agents and LLMs to drive deployment solutions
- Experience with cloud, containers, and modern AI tools (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Experience with production machine learning and high‑performance compute development
- Experience building and deploying tools for air‑gapped and/or limited compute environments
- Strong problem‑solving mindset, ability to develop solutions to difficult problems that require integration of conflicting and ambiguous data
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex design information, technical decisions, and issues to both highly technical and non‑technical peers
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across organizations, collaborate with others, engage in constructive conflict, and manage interpersonal dynamics – not afraid to challenge the existing approach to solutions
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic multi‑disciplinary environment
