Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems is seeking a Software Engineering professional to join our team based out of Manassas, VA. This position supports United States Navy programs specializing in Software Engineering focused on Anti‑Submarine Warfare (ASW). The role requires strong problem‑solving skills in software development and integration, with a focus on Linux (security, containers, scripting, and other Linux‑related work). The successful candidate will work in a team environment, onsite at the Manassas, VA facility.
Responsibilities- Perform work in an agile development team and support elements of the design/development effort.
- Develop custom OS solutions, including taking Red Hat Linux and customizing it to fit customer needs.
- Apply cyber‑security hardening to the Linux OS.
- Create virtual machines and containers in support of customer OSes.
- Develop shell scripts and Ansible playbooks to support OS development and deployment.
- Automate development/deployment of the Linux OS and inject Dev Ops practices into the process.
- Support secondary development of code (Java/C++/Python) for the program.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or equivalent experience/combined education with 2 years of professional experience; a related master’s degree may substitute for experience.
- Proficiency with the Linux OS.
- Experience in Bash and Python.
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Java, C++, Docker/Podman.
- Kubernetes or Open Shift.
- Test automation.
- Ability to work with cross‑functional teams (Hardware, Systems Engineering, integration & Test).
- Understanding of Docker/Podman, Ansible, Git Lab.
- Knowledge of Gradle.
- Basic understanding of software configuration management.
- Experience in computer system administration.
This position requires a government security clearance; candidates must be U.S. citizens. Clearance level:
Secret.
