JOBPURPOSE
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager/Director of Nursing Designee provides day-to-day operational and clinical leadership for nursing services position serves as the designated representative of the Director of Nursing when assigned and is responsible for ensuring safe, evidence-based, trauma-informed, and patient-centered nursing care in accordance with New Jersey Department of Health regulations, applicable federal requirements, ASAM Criteria, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
The Nurse Manager promotes excellence in nursing practice through staff development, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous monitoring of patient outcomes.
When formally designated by the organization and only during the absence or unavailability of the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager serves as the Director of Nursing Designee. In this capacity, the DON designee assumes delegated operational and administrative responsibilities necessary to maintain continuity of nursing services. The Nurse Manager does not permanently assume the Director of Nursing position and exercises only those responsibilities specifically delegated by the Director of Nursing or organizational leadership.
TIMECOMMITMENT
Full time, in-person onsite position, consisting of 40 hours per week depending on organizational needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AS DIRECTOR OF NURSING DESIGNEEThe Nurse Manager serves as the Director of Nursing Designee only when formally designated by the organization and during the temporary absence, leave, or unavailability of the Director of Nursing. While serving in this capacity, the Nurse Manager is authorized to perform delegated operational and administrative functions necessary to ensure continuity of nursing services, including:
- Providing operational oversight of nursing services.
- Supervising nursing staff and making day-to-day staffing decisions.
- Responding to regulatory, licensing, and survey-related issues requiring nursing leadership.
- Coordinating with the Medical Director, Executive Director, and other department leaders regarding patient care operations.
- Reviewing and approving nursing documentation, reports, and operational matters within delegated authority.
- Addressing urgent personnel, patient care, and safety issues requiring nursing leadership.
- Ensuring continued compliance with New Jersey regulations, organizational policies, and accreditation standards.
- Communicating significant issues and actions taken to the Director of Nursing upon their return.
- Reporting back to the DON all items
The Nurse Manager/Director of Nursing Designee does not independently establish departmental policy, make permanent organizational decisions reserved for the Director of Nursing, or assume responsibilities beyond those specifically delegated by the Director of Nursing or executive leadership. Authority as Director of Nursing Designee is temporary and limited to the period of official assignment.
