About the Opportunity
The Staff Accountant supports the overall finance function by assisting with month-end close activities, preparing journal entries, and monitoring expenses. This position reports to the Accounting Manager and works closely with the Site Controller as well as various site departments.
LocationManchester, CT onsite/hybrid
Responsibilities- Prepares journal entries and maintains the general ledger
- Reconciles weekly payroll/AR/AP activity for the monthly bank reconciliation
- Performs month-end close, including recurring journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Monitors manufacturing spend, analyzes variances, and partners with operations to explain budget-to-actual results
- Reviews purchase orders, invoices, and expense entries to ensure proper coding and alignment with production activities
- Supports capital expenditure tracking, project accounting, and fixed asset management for the site
- Assists in audit activities, providing documentation and explanations as needed
- Participates in supporting ad hoc projects as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations
- 6 months - 2yrs experience accounting experience
- Aerospace and/or manufacturing experience
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and propose informed decisions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products
- Detailed oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring you to pivot and adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Must be able to have prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules
