Position SummaryAll Teaching Faculty members shall:
Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.); perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources;
and other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair, or other administrator, the Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and delivering a range of courses within the assigned discipline. Courses may be offered in lecture, hybrid, and/or online formats, and teaching schedules may include both day and evening classes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching courses within the assigned discipline area in accordance with institutional standards
- Evaluating and assessing student learning outcomes
- Providing student support, mentoring, and academic advising
- Developing curriculum and periodically reviewing and updating instructional materials
- Assisting with program reviews and accreditation-related activities
- Planning and executing program-related events
- Attending workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field
Additional responsibilities include:
- Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
- Service on assigned committees and task forces
- Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends

Master’s degree in Mathematics or a related discipline e.g., Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Math Education.
Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience teaching mathematics in a college setting, including but not limited to developmental mathematics, quantitative reasoning (math for liberal arts), algebra, statistics, and calculus in a college setting, with an emphasis on modeling, problem-solving, critical thinking andragogy.
- Experience using mathematical technology tools to support instruction and student engagement, including graphing calculators (TI-83 and above), and visualization and modeling tools (e.g., Desmos, Geo Gebra, Excel).
- Experience using learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) and online learning platforms (e.g., My Math Lab , ALEKS, Web Assign, My Open Math ) to support student engagement.
