Building Substitute Teacher

Odyssey Community School - Manchester, CT

Odyssey Community School, a dynamic public charter school serving 417 students in grades PreK-8, is seeking a Building Substitute Teacher for the  school year. We offer:

* Small class sizes (no more than 20 students) to foster individualized instruction and support.

Responsibilities include:

* Providing instructional coverage for classroom teachers and specialists during absences across grade levels PreK-8.

* Implementing lesson plans left by teachers and ensuring a safe, engaging, and respectful classroom environment.

Supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth in alignment with Odyssey's CIRCLE core values (Courage, Integrity, Respect, Curiosity, Leadership, Excellence).

* Assisting with supervision duties, school events, and other instructional or operational needs as part of the full school team.

Minimum Qualifications:

* A Bachelor's Degree is required

* Teaching certification is optional, but preferred

* Availability from 7:30 am - 2:45 pm Monday - Thursday is preferred

* Willing to be flexible with days for part time role up to 29 hours, must be available a minimum of 2 days a week

* Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred

* Strong communication and classroom management skills

Compensation and Benefits:

* Hourly rate of $22.25 - $26.00, depending on experience and if applicant has active teaching certification

* Work week up to maximum of 29 hours

* From November 2025 to last day of school in June 2026

* Prorated sick and personal time provided in occurrence with school policy

* No health benefits or other benefits included with this position
