Job Description
JOB TITLE: Special Education Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Education
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Education/Principal
- Establishes meaningful connections with students as they work towards returning to their public-school settings
- Designs educational programs for students based on assessments and presents their findings at Team meetings and PPTs
- Maintains communication with sending districts, parents, certified special education teachers, school social workers, speech and language pathologist, teaching assistants and occupational therapist.
- Participates in ongoing professional development including the ARC framework and CPI
- Participates in the ordering of classroom supplies and teaching materials
- Assess and progress monitor students using formal and informal methods.
QUALIFICATIONS B.A. Required, M.A. Preferred
Licensure / CertificationThe Special Education Teacher shall be certified by the Connecticut State Department of Education holding a Special Education Certificate 165 or equivalent. DSAP candidate applicants encouraged to apply.
