Overview
Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can’t keep up. At Neon Aero, we’re breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.
Here, you won’t just take a job — you’ll help reinvent how the world flies. If you’re ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.
At Neon Aero, we build in a high-mix environment where speed matters—but precision matters more. We’re looking for a Sr. Staff Industrial Engineer to lead advanced industrial engineering initiatives that improve performance across manufacturing, R&D, and production support. This is a senior technical role with real influence on factory design, production readiness, capacity planning, and scalability as we grow.
ResponsibilitiesYou’ll serve as the site’s primary Industrial Engineering authority—partnering with operations, engineering, supply chain, and leadership to optimize systems and embed risk management into daily work, capital projects, and new process introductions. Your work will directly impact safety, environmental performance, regulatory standing, and business continuity.
- Lead industrial engineering strategy, standard methodologies, and best practices to support site performance.
- Design and optimize manufacturing processes, facility layouts, material flow, and labor standards.
- Develop and maintain capacity models, line balances, takt times, and production simulations.
- Partner with Operations and Engineering on new product introductions, capital projects, and factory scaling.
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven problem-solving tools.
- Analyze production data to identify constraints and reduce waste—improving throughput, quality, and cost.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership as a subject matter expert across cross-functional teams.
- Own site-wide risk management and regulatory compliance programs, including hazard assessments, incident investigations, contractor safety, and regulatory inspections.
- Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) elements where applicable, including management of change, job hazard analysis, training, and emergency planning.
- Strengthen safety culture through standard work, audits, gemba walks, and employee engagement.
- Lead Industrial Engineering training, emergency preparedness, and environmental programs, including waste, stormwater, and sustainability initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field;
Master’s degree preferred; professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. - Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in an industrial engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong expertise in Lean manufacturing, value stream mapping, line balancing, and capacity planning.
- Experience supporting high-mix, low-to-medium volume manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with data analysis, modeling, and simulation tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority.
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement Industrial Engineering programs from the ground up.
- Strong project management, investigation, and cross-functional leadership skills.
