Mortgage Loan Officer in Manchester, CT. Provide information on credit union products, interview loan applicants, prepare and process real‑estate loan documentation, and make approval decisions while meeting productivity goals and adhering to federal, state, and credit union regulations.

• Meet with loan applicants to discuss mortgage options, counsel on credit and budgeting, and develop a roadmap for approval.
• Prequalify applicants by examining all borrower information, assessing creditworthiness, income adequacy, collateral, and repayment risk.
• Determine maximum purchase price/loan amount based on borrower data.
• Approve or deny loan applications that do not meet pre‑qualification standards and explain reasons for denial.
• Gather and review required data, including credit bureau reports, verify debts, estimate monthly payments, and update applications accordingly.
• Comply with all federal and state mortgage regulations and disclosure requirements.
• Prepare loan applications and documentation for underwriting and closing.
• Ensure accurate processing of each loan, troubleshoot issues, and maintain communication with borrowers throughout the processing period.
• Develop mortgage loan business by identifying and maintaining a network of real‑estate professionals, builders, and other referral sources.
• Participate in business development opportunities and community efforts to promote home ownership.
• Oversee responsibilities of Mortgage Loan Assistant, if appropriate.
• Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.

• High School Diploma mandatory;
  Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mortgage, banking, or related consumer lending.
• Experience in consumer lending preferred.
• Ability to represent Self-Help in networking functions and develop realtor and other referral relationships.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and independent decision‑making skills.
• Consistent adherence to file quality guidelines.
• Ability to meet productivity goals.
• Secure and maintain NMLS certification.
• Collaborative team player.
• Sensitivity to low‑wealth borrower issues and commitment to a diverse organization.
• Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills.
• Excellent written and presentation communication skills.
• Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
