Shift: Night Shift (19:00 – 07:30) | 3x12-Hour Shifts

Job Summary

A 249-bed acute care facility is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN. A primary focus of this contract is the upcoming transition to Epic EMR. The manager is specifically looking for a high-performing traveler who is not only a clinical expert in emergency care but also technically proficient and adaptable to EMR migrations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acute Emergency Care: Manage a diverse patient population in a fast-paced community ER, from minor injuries to life-threatening traumas and cardiac emergencies.
  • Epic Transition Support: Serve as a stabilizing force during the facility's move to Epic. You must be comfortable navigating EMR changes and potentially assisting permanent staff with workflow adjustments.
  • Stroke Protocol Execution: As a Stroke Certified nurse, you will lead the rapid assessment and intervention for acute ischemic stroke patients (e.g., TNK/tPA administration and coordination with the Hartford Health Care Ayer Neuroscience Institute).
  • Critical Interventions: Perform rapid-sequence intubation (RSI) assistance, ACLS/PALS protocols, and stabilize patients for transfer to tertiary care if required.
  • Patient Advocacy: Maintain a high standard of care in a high-volume setting where blocked scheduling is not permitted to ensure balanced unit coverage.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of dedicated Emergency Department experience.
  • Travel Experience: Mandatory. The facility will only consider nurses with a proven track record of successful travel assignments.
  • Clinical Skills: Advanced proficiency in ER workflows and a high level of comfort with Epic EMR.
  • Certifications: * BLS, ACLS, & PALS (AHA) – Required.
    • Stroke Certification – Required.
  • Adaptability: Must be resilient and flexible, especially regarding scheduling and the inherent stressors of a system-wide EMR transition.

  • EMR Status: Transitioning to Epic (Previously utilized MyECHN/Meditech-based systems).
