Applied Aerospace & Defense (Applied) is a premier provider of advanced design, engineering, and vertically integrated manufacturing solutions for leading and next‑generation space and defense technology companies.

This position builds the operator's skills and knowledge to efficiently perform and maintain the manufacturing processes on vertical and horizontal multi‑axis turning machines to produce precision aerospace components.

Responsibilities
  • Perform setup and operate vertical and horizontal multi‑axis turning machinery as required with supervision.
  • Use manual inspection equipment such as height stands, micrometers, indicators, dial bores, and verniers.
  • Work with aerospace materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, magnesium, titanium, and nickel alloys.
  • Read and interpret operation sheets and work instructions.
  • Adhere to established policies, company procedures, and standard work.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
  • Document and communicate manufacturing performance issues to maintain continuity between shifts and reduce machine downtime.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow all safety policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by leads, supervisors, and/or managers.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods on a concrete manufacturing floor.
  • Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Moderate twisting and bending.
  • Moderate climbing on step stools or platforms.
  • Exposure to loud machining environment; aerospace metals, lubricants, and chemicals.
  • Required personal protective equipment: safety glasses/shields, appropriate closed‑toe footwear, gloves, hearing protection may be required or other protective equipment as needed.
Qualifications
  • US citizen.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical school graduate in machining or two years of CNC experience.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of math or industrial mathematics.
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Ability to use or set up measuring devices.
  • Solid problem‑solving skills.
