Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting product and process quality initiatives across manufacturing operations, with a focus on APQP, PPAP, validation, CMM programming, and continuous improvement. This role partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Production, and Customers to ensure compliance with quality standards, improve process capability, and support new product launches. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in GD&T, SPC, metrology, and plastic injection molding quality systems.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and complete PPAP submissions, including customer-facing documentation and tool revision changes
- Support and drive the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for new and existing programs
- Develop and execute validation protocols for manufacturing and quality processes
- Conduct and analyze GR&R / Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies
- Create, maintain, and optimize CMM programs for inspection of components and tooling
- Train Quality Inspectors and Production/Molding personnel on quality standards, inspection methods, and new project requirements
- Perform data collection, statistical analysis, and reporting for process improvement initiatives
- Analyze process capability and interpret capability studies (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk)
- Update and maintain quality instructions, inspection plans, drawings, and controlled documentation
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for internal/external quality issues
- Communicate quality concerns, trends, and improvement opportunities to leadership
- Participate in continuous improvement and special quality-related projects
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, internal procedures, and customer quality requirements
- High School Diploma required;
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field preferred - 5–8+ years of quality engineering / advanced quality experience in manufacturing
- Experience in plastic injection molding required/preferred (adjust based on your preference)
- Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and metrology principles
- Proficiency in CMM programming and operation
- Experience with SPC, capability studies, GR&R/MSA, and core quality tools
- Working knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems
- Strong computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Medium work:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally - Strong visual acuity for inspection of small parts/defects, data analysis, and use of precision measuring equipment
