Sales Associate/Assistant, Retail Sales
Cox Communications is seeking a Retail Sales Associate to deliver exceptional customer experiences in our retail locations. The role involves supporting sales of Cox products, engaging with customers, and meeting sales and retention targets.
The position is a flexible work option with no remote work; employees must work at a specified Cox location and are subject to variable shift schedules.
What You’ll Do- Explain and demonstrate product capabilities and offer suggestions based on customers’ wants and needs.
- Meet or exceed targets regarding customer experience, sales, and retention.
- Assist with opening and closing of the store retail environment.
- Properly handle cash transactions.
- Engage in workshops, special events, and product demos.
- Support fellow sales agents when needed.
- Continuously expand knowledge of current Cox products and competitor offerings through regular training.
- May be required to work in other locations within the same geographical area.
Variable targeted total compensation is $55,877 per year (approximately $26.86/hour) with high earners exceeding $73,160 (approximately $35.17/hour). The pay structure includes a full‑time hourly base rate of $18.38 plus monthly targeted commissions of $1,471. A ramp period of up to 2 months allows adjustment to commission earnings.

- Minimum: HS diploma/GED or up to 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Ability to meet established sales, retention, and customer experience targets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for consultative, solutions‑based selling and influencing customer decisions.
- Ability to build relationships and adapt to a diverse customer base.
- Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and work in a fast‑paced team environment.
- Mobility within the store for long periods, greeting customers and demonstrating products.
- Computer literacy with an aptitude for learning communication products, services, and accessories.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Ability to lift 25–50 pounds for stock room inventory.
- Preferred:
Some college experience in sales, business, and/or management; one year of related experience; experience selling wireless/mobile products; fluency in Spanish (written and spoken).
