Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
This position requires an individual with a strong mechanical and diagnostic skill set to perform mobile field work on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
Duties- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance ("PM"), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
- Inspect, test, and analyze defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- Work with customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
- Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks.
- Document according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders ("RO") using iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity, working within or close to most standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates and discuss RO findings.
- Perform work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of experience in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must successfully complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening, DOT physical, or provide a valid DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining.
- Must be at least 21 years old to comply with interstate commerce regulations.
- Must hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Must be a safe driver with a clean driving record.

- Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed.
- Accurately judge distances between objects.
- Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions.
