Position: Mobile Diesel Mechanic II $3000 New Hire Bonus

Position Overview

Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

Duties
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment across electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutch, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches and differentials.
  • Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and findings to Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Operate independently and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain high productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order approvals, and discussion of RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of related experience (alternatively a higher degree or certification plus 5 years of experience).
  • Possess a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Provide a current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining, or complete a DOT physical if less than four months remain.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Certifications
  • Required:

    ASE T8 (PMI)
  • Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609
